Bangladesh Computer Council · Government of Bangladesh
Bangladesh's premier government data center — powering the nation's digital future since 2010 from ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka.
Our Background
From the founding of the National Computer Council in 1983 to becoming Bangladesh's first Tier-III certified government data center — NDC's journey reflects the nation's ambition for digital transformation.
The Government of Bangladesh formed the National Computer Council (NCC) to lead and coordinate ICT development across the country — marking the formal beginning of Bangladesh's journey in information technology.
The National Computer Council was renamed and restructured as the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) through a formal government ordinance. BCC became the apex statutory body under the ICT Division for spearheading ICT development across Bangladesh.
The Government of Bangladesh announced its transformative "Digital Bangladesh" vision — a national agenda to harness ICT for economic development, good governance, and social progress by 2021, paving the way for massive investment in digital infrastructure including a national data center.
BCC established the National Data Center (NDC) at ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka — Bangladesh's first government-owned data center. NDC was built to provide centralized IT infrastructure to government organizations and support the rapidly expanding e-government ecosystem.
NDC achieved the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification — becoming the first data center in Bangladesh to attain this international information security management standard, reinforcing trust and credibility for hosting sensitive government data.
NDC became the first Tier-III Certified government data center in Bangladesh, meeting the Uptime Institute's globally recognized standards for concurrent maintainability, fault tolerance, and 99.982% uptime SLA. TIA 942 Tier-3 compliance was also achieved.
NDC launched the eGovCloud — Bangladesh's first on-premises government cloud service, offering IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS to public organizations. This milestone transformed NDC from a hosting facility into a full-fledged cloud service provider for the public sector.
NDC commissioned a Disaster Recovery (DR) facility at Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park (STP) in Jashore, ensuring business continuity and data resilience for government services. The DR site enables Cloud Disaster Recovery (CSDR) services for registered organizations.
Today NDC serves 1,000+ government organizations including the President's Office, Prime Minister's Office, Cabinet Division, Bangladesh Election Commission, Supreme Court, and many more. NDC operates with 20+ PB storage, 200+ rack capacity, and 99.982% uptime, continuously expanding infrastructure to support Bangladesh's Smart Nation agenda.
Purpose & Direction
As the National Data Center, we are committed to delivering state-of-the-art IT services and infrastructure that create better opportunities for Bangladesh through technological advancement and digitalization.
"As the National Data Center, we provide state-of-the-art IT services and infrastructure to create better opportunities for Bangladesh through technological advancement."
NDC aspires to be recognized as the leading data center in Asia — setting global standards for IT service delivery, information security, and digital governance while empowering digital communities across Bangladesh.
"Our vision is to become the leading data center in Asia, setting global IT service and security standards and enabling digital communities."
Guiding Principles
Multi-layered defense mechanisms and ISO 27001 certified information security management protect every piece of government data entrusted to us.
Tier-III certified infrastructure ensures 99.982% uptime with concurrent maintainability and zero-downtime service delivery, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Continuously adopting emerging technologies — from Kubernetes-based containers to AI/ML platforms — to keep Bangladesh's government infrastructure at the cutting edge.
Every service decision is guided by the goal of enabling better, faster, and more accessible e-government services for the citizens of Bangladesh.
Strategy
The People Behind NDC
NDC is operated by a skilled and dedicated team of engineers, managers, and technical specialists from Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). Our team spans data center operations, network engineering, cloud computing, software development, security, and facilities management.
Working round-the-clock to maintain Tier-III grade uptime, the NDC team is committed to supporting Bangladesh's digital transformation — from managing petabytes of critical government data to deploying modern cloud services for public institutions across the country.
Standards & Recognition
NDC holds internationally recognized certifications that collectively assure the highest standards of information security, service management, and data center infrastructure — giving government organizations and citizens confidence in Bangladesh's national digital backbone.
ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is the international standard for information security management. NDC is the first data center in Bangladesh to achieve this certification. It confirms that NDC has implemented a comprehensive, risk-based information security management system covering people, processes, and technology.
ISO/IEC 20000 is the international standard for IT service management, ensuring NDC delivers IT services that consistently meet the needs of government customers and stakeholders. Compliance confirms NDC follows a structured, process-driven approach to service delivery.
NDC meets the Uptime Institute's Tier-III standard — requiring concurrent maintainability, multiple independent distribution paths, and a minimum 99.982% uptime SLA. This is the first Tier-III certified government data center in Bangladesh.
NDC follows the ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) v2 framework for optimizing IT service delivery. ITIL ensures service strategy, design, transition, operation, and continual improvement are all systematically managed.
NDC complies with TIA-942 Tier-3 standards for data center design and infrastructure — covering site location, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications requirements for a fault-tolerant, highly available facility.
NDC was first in Bangladesh to deploy a supercomputer platform to provide advanced computing services to government organizations.
Pioneered dedicated IT infrastructure services for public sector entities in Bangladesh, preceding any comparable government data center.
Achieved the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 ISMS certification as the first data center in the entire country — setting the national benchmark for information security.
Launched eGovCloud in 2019 — Bangladesh's first on-premises government cloud, providing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS to 1,000+ public organizations.
Maintained a 99.982% uptime record — exceeding the Tier-III SLA target — across cloud, hosting, email, colocation, and managed services.
Operates over 20 petabytes of storage capacity with 200+ rack capacity at the primary site, plus a full DR facility at Sheikh Hasina STP, Jashore.
